Week 8 Tulare County Cream of the Crop Power Rankings

Who is atop this week’s Tulare County Cream of the Crop Power Football Rankings?

Visalia Times-Delta/Tulare Advance-Register readers can now vote for their favorite prep athletes of the week at the newspaper’s website The poll closes at noon on Friday.

Here are the choices for the week of Sept. 27 to Oct. 1:

  • Jadon Cordova, football, Tulare Union. Cordova , a linebacker, found the end zone on a 20-yard interception return to spark the Tribe to a 26-0 victory against Monache.
  • Brandon Martin, football, Tulare Western. Martin rushed for more than 100 yards and scored on a 61-yard run as the Mustangs routed Delano 56-21.
  • Nick Nelson, football, El Diamante. Nelson, a receiver, caught eight passes for 156 yards and two touchdowns in a loss at Hanford.
  • Josh Sousa, football, Central Valley Christian. Sousa scored the eventual game-winning touchdown on a 55-yard run to lift the Cavaliers to a 24-21 win over Dinuba. He finished with 89 yards rushing on only eight carries.
  • Noe Viveros, football, Redwood. Lining up at linebacker, Viveros tallied a team-high 11 tackles and intercepted a pass in the Rangers’ 21-14 loss against Lemoore.

Anyone (coaches, parents, teammates, teachers, friends, etc.) can nominate an athlete of the week for every sport.

Nominations are based on information made available to the Times-Delta. Please include statistics and a photo with your submission.

All high school varsity players from Tulare County are eligible to be placed on the ballot. Nominations must be received by Monday morning following that week’s games for consideration.
